With the exception of fun my life seems to  be pretty balanced.  However, when I have the opportunity to have fun it generally is something that I cherish and can think about for the days and weeks to come.  The other three categories allow me to have fun as an everyday occurrence but I don't think it is in the sense that the book was trying to emphasize.

This activity wasn't easy but here is a stab at it.

Love:
friends
family
work
gym

Power:
school
work
gym

Fun:
friends
gym

Freedom:
work
gym
school

I agree this exercise was not easy but it was enlightening. I beleive you are one of the lucky ones because your life does seem balanced.

The maintenance section gave me a couple of aha moments. One of them is the tendency to add something else instead of improving what we have. Did the maintenance section touch you at all?

I find it interesting that the gym was in all of the areas.

Amazing that one place can have so much of an impact across a variety of aspects of our lives.

Achievement, escape, relief of frustration, friendship with like minds - I think I'll go to the gym now myself.jrd

Exercise seems to be a central theme to many of our happiness tools. Perhaps it is the endorphins secreted when we push our physical envelope or is it much deeper psycologicaly?
